Sonoma

Back in late September we got a call from a painting contractor we've worked with before, Greg Brescia www.bresciastonepainting.com/, regarding a large project in Sonoma that was on the verge of needing a finish carpentry crew. Over the following several weeks we visited the site a few times to look it over and meet the general contractor (AMP Construction of San Rafael). We put a price together, won the bidding, and mobilized on October 31st.

Designed by Jessica Hall Associates of Larkspur , the process of building the 10,000 square-foot house can be seen on a slideshow at http://iangaff.jalbum.net/Sebastiani%20Residence/

The photo above shows the exterior as we first saw it, still shrink-wrapped as it had been since early on in the rough construction phases.

An evening of violent winds took much of the shrink wrap off. AMP Construction tarped the building temporarily, as the exterior is not yet weather-proof.

There are some monster moldings in this place.

Master bedroom. This photo's significance is that it shows the first piece of trim to be installed.

Same corner of the room, with a bit more finish work in place.

Carl and James paneling the kitchen ceiling.

James is one of several independent contractors we will have working with us. His background is in traditional Japanese joinery, starting with a six year apprenticeship in Japan while in his 20's. Not sure how much of that will come into play here, but maybe we can get him to sharpen our chisels.

This crown molding goes in both of the master bathrooms. 12" x 5"
